Client: Private
Partners: Stabilam Constructeur Bois
Project Type: Private
Budget: 450 000 Euros
Status: Completed in 2016

The concept of the project is based on the resumption of the volumetry of the existing house which had a curved thatched roof. And it is also to recall the environment and the dune that is particular landscape of the region.

It is made up of three volumetric units which start from the ground with different curves. These waves create the volumes of the different spaces of the project.

The composition and orientation of the interior spaces of the house reflects he south-west oriented site. This architectural configuration facilitates also the natural ventilation. The rooms are located to the north leaving space to the living rooms that extends to the south and the sunset.

The light contribution is put forward and exploited by double heights towards the south west involving the creation of calorific intakes in winter. The management of the angle of the sun has been taken into account for the roof overhangs and the bay windows to manage as much as possible the solar engery gain. This avoids overheating in summer but favors the low sunshine of a winter sun that can participate in 25% heat input for the house.

The volumes of the house develops towards the south west by proposing two heights of volume (3m and 7m) which thus create a planted terrace for the roof of the first floor.  This volume covers the winter garden on the south-west and act as a buffer space that also participates in the heat gain. It participates in the passive house by a greenhouse effect.
